4 Keys to Mastering Anything:

Hi All,

Sorry for the late release of this months newsletter. I was on a conference call last night with one of my mentors, Igor Ledochowski, where covered a topic that I would like to share with you as the content for this months newsletter.

4 Keys to Mastering Anything:

1.Great Motivation:

• Find inspiration from leaders in your field like Milton Erickson or Bill Gates

• Have clear goals (big but achievable)

• Make sure that money ISN’T your highest motivation. Find a higher purpose or something you can be enthusiastic about

• Find and develop intrinsic motivations for yourself

2. Great Information:

• What do successful people in your field do?

• What do successful people in your field think about?

• Need to have clear and simple ideas. Every idea can be broken down into simpler ideas

• Information needs to be Principles based i. Information is broken down into 3 categories:

1. Examples (scripts)

2. Techniques (step-by-step instructions, templates, etc.)

3. Principles – the underlying cause/effect, root cause, unconscious processes, etc.

• Personal Experience – Takes you from theory to practicality.

1. Exercises

2. Actual sessions

• Intellectually Stimulating

1. Information should force you to think

2. Information should intrigue you and drive you to learn more

• Ask Questions – Asking questions keeps you progressing forward

3. Great Practice Program

• The right level of challenge for your level of skill in order to create “Flow States”

1. If skill is high, but challenge is low, you get bored

- Anytime you are bored it’s a sign that you need to add more challenge

2. If skill is low, but challenge is high, you get frustrated and end up practicing failure

3. If the challenge matches or is slightly higher than your skill, then you experience positive stress and are more motivated.

• Find the right volume of practice (more is better)

1. Neurons that fire together, wire together (Myelination)

• Great Mindset

1. Positive, Confident

2. All behavior and change happens unconsciously first

3. Be patient

4. Focus on what skill you are currently developing

• It’s not as important how much you practice, but rather “how” you practice.

1. Practice doesn’t make perfect, it makes permanent. Perfect practice makes perfect, so identify areas for improvement early and often so that your practice moves you towards perfection

4. Great Environment

• Strong support group of your peers (like minded individuals)

• Find and work with a great coach or mentor

• Find/develop a shared mission or vision

• Get feedback from everyone

• Join a mastermind group

That's all I have for now.
