"Sticking Card" Demonstration


Hi All,

In this newsletter, I want to end the year with something you can do on your own, to help grow your business. This is a technique that I learned, and have demonstrated many times in our weekly meetings, and it's a great way to hand out your business cards.

I call it the "sticking card" demonstration. In this demo, you effectively get your business card "stuck" in your prospects hands, with amazing effect.

Let me break down the steps for you:

1.Approach your prospect and say something to peak their curiosity, like "Hi, my name is <your name> and I'm a hypnotist. Would you like to learn something really fascinating about your mind?"

2.When your subject accepts, take out your business card and say "In a moment, not now, but in a moment, I'm going to hand you this 'special' card, and when I do, I want you to hold it like this." Demonstrate how you want them to hold the card. Hold the card by the edge, between your index finger and thumb. Extend your arm straight out in front of you, so that you wrist is about eye level, and your hand is bent, palm side downward, so that the card is dangling length ways down from your finger tips.

3.Now hand your card to the prospect and help guide their arm and hand into position, ensuring that their are is locked out straight and the wrist is bent downward, and the card is about their eye level.

4.Now say to them "Now I would like to you to find a spot on that card and stare at that spot. Don't look at me or anything else, simply hold you concentrated gaze on that spot on the card. Check to ensure they are complying with your request.

5.Once they are staring at the card, say "Now while you are staring at that spot, I want you to repeat over and over again in your head 'I'm going to drop this, I'm going to drop this.' over and over again as fast as you can."

6.Then say "And as you repeat over and over again in your mind 'I'm going to drop this. I'm going to drop this." those fingers will continue to press tighter and tighter on that card. So tight in fact that you cannot drop the card, and the more they press, the tighter they become, and the better you feel inside."

7.Observe your subjects fingers until you see the fingers pinching and straining against the card. Then say "You can try to drop that card, but the more you try, the tighter those fingers press, and the better you feel inside. Try to drop the card and find that you cannot."

8.When you see the subject straining to drop the card, but failing you can either snap your fingers and say "release" to watch them finally drop the card, or you can carry on to full arm catalepsy.

9.To create the arm catalepsy, say to your client "And just as those fingers are stuck to that card, that wrist is locked, that elbow is locked, that shoulder is locked, in fact that entire arm is completely locked into place." Touch their wrist, elbow and shoulder as you cover each area. Continue with "In fact that arm is so completely locked into place you cannot lower it. You can try, but the harder you try, the more stiff and ridged it becomes, and the better you feel inside. Try it now, and find that it remains locked in place, stiff and ridged."

10.Then you can say something like, "When I grab your wrist, your arm will completely relax, like a wet rag." Then grab their wrist and say "relax, loose and limp like a wet rag." as you lower their arm down by their side.

11.If they dropped the card step 8 or 10, then pick it up and hand it back to them saying, here, you can hold onto this 'very special' card. If you would like to explore more about your powerful mind, to make positive changes in your life, like eliminating bad habits, or overcoming fears and phobia, or even just to accomplish some long standing goal, then give me a call, my number is on the card."

I have used this demonstration hundreds of times, with a greater than 95% success rate. Not only does it work consistently, it leaves the prospect with a true sense of awe and curiosity.

This demonstrations uses a number of powerful techniques. First we utilize some "eye fixation" techniques to isolate their conscious mind and get their full attention and concentration. Then we trigger an internal "fear" response with the internal chant of "I'm going to drop this." which forces them to "unconsciously" grip the card tighter. The we utilize the law of dominance to offer strong suggestions, paired with weaker 'try' suggestions. Then we utilize the law of successive approximation to take one "belief" ("and just as those fingers are stuck") to cascade into additional beliefs ("...it means that that wrist is stuck, and that elbow is stuck and even that shoulder is stuck...") couple with the disassociated language of "that" and "those" verses "this" and "your".

Give this technique a try with your friends and prospects and have fun with it. Then leave your card with them and watch your business grow.
