Take Action

Today I want to talk to you about "Action", but first, let me ask you a question. Have you ever had a dream or an idea that you wanted to make into a reality? How about your clients? Have any of your clients come in with a goal they want to accomplish, but haven't seen it come to realization yet? I'll bet, that if you dig deep enough, the ingredient missing in making things happen is "Action".

"Action is the bridge between wanting and having."

It's great to have dreams and ideas, but without action, nothing happens, and not just any action, appropriate action that propels you toward accomplishing your goals. Actions that don't move you toward your goals are just busy work, which is a side effect of procrastination.

Many of you want to be hypnotists, so you come to the meetings, read the materials, watch online videos, go to stage shows, etc. All of these are great activities to engage in, and they do move you closer to your goal, however, to really accomplish your goal of being a hypnotist, you have to hypnotize people...a lot of people. The more people you interact with as a hypnotist, the better your skills become and the more confidence you develop.

Don't let fear get in the way of accomplishing your goals. At the meetings, we set aside time to allow for practical application and practice. This is a tremendous opportunity for you to develop your skills as a hypnotist with eager and willing subjects. It's ok to just 'observe' a few times when you just start out, but you learn a lot more by doing.

Even if you are an established hypnotist, you need to make sure that you practice as often as possible. I try not to let a week go by without hypnotizing someone...anyone...it doesn't matter who it is. Sometimes I use overt hypnosis and instant or rapid inductions, other times I use conversational hypnosis, the key point here is that I 'do' hypnosis as often as possible. I've been a hypnotist for over 2 decades, and I know that if I go too long between opportunities to work with real subjects, my skills become rusty, which could potentially affect my confidence. So, I work hard to keep myself education, practiced, and my skills sharp by doing what I love to do, as often as I can.

Use the environment we have to develop your skits for up-coming shows. It will give you the opportunity to try out new things and it will be educational and entertaining to the members. Work on new inductions and deepeners, try out something you saw on YouTube (as long as it's appropriate for the context of the meeting). Whatever it is, take action and do it. You'll learn the most from it and you'll be a better hypnotist for it.

That's all I have for now.
